The ancient
capital of Ahom Kings, Jorhat is well known for its cultural heritage and
tea plantation. The place is the ideal place for tea plantation due to its
climatic condition. There is a tea research centre in Tocklai, which is 5 km
away from Jorhat.
One of the important festivals of North East India, Jorhat Tea Festival held
here every year. Assam Agricultural University can be another place of
tourist attraction in Jorhat.

from Jorhat, for Kolkata & Dimapur.
By Road – A good number of private & govt. buses operate between
Jorhat and Kaziranga, Guwahati, Sibsagar, Tezpur etc.
By Rail – Jorhat is connected with the main line through ‘Farketing –
Mariyani’ loop of Northern Frontier Railway Zone of Indian Railway. One can
get ‘Tinsukia – Mariyani Express from Mariyani.
