This 120 odd sq
kms of protected and mature rainforest is nestled in the valley of the river
Ngengpui is South Mizoram. The wildlife sanctuary is close to Lawngtlai
town, which is the headquarters of the Lai Autonomous District Council and
is also the district headquarters. Located at 296 kms away from Aizawl in
the southern part of Mizoram, the wildlife sanctuary is also close to Indo –
Myanmar and Indo – Bangladesh borders, having rich biodiversity.
The sanctuary is the
ideal habitat for precious faunal species like Elephent, Tiger, Clouded
Leopard, Gaur (India Bison), Barking Deer, Wild Leaf Monkey and varieties of
birds and a host of wild plants. The wildlife sanctuary is a unique habitat
for a wide range (70 species) of Herpeto Fauna. |
