Cuttack is shopper’s
paradise and one of the important and oldest cities of Orissa. Expert
artisans are designing silverware, silk & cotton textiles, brass work to
offer tourists. Cuttuck is surrounded by two rivers, Mahanadi in the North
and Kathajodi in the South.
Those who are fascinated by the history are drawn to the ruins of the
Barabati Fort on the bank of Mahanadi. Nearby is the temple of Katak Chandi,
the presiding deity of the city.
The Cuttuck district also has temples worth visiting. Situated on an island
on the banks of the Mahanadi River is the Simhanath temple, the temple
reflects the influence of the old and new experiments and offers interesting
images of the Shiva, Shakta and Vaishnava cults of Hinduism.
