1) Do not trample high
altitude vegetation. Do not pick any flowers or medicinal plants.
2) Do not disturb
wildlife or it's habitat.
3) Do not purchase
endangered animal parts or antique cultural artifacts.
4) Discourage camp
fires, encourage camp fun.
5) Follow safety
rules when carrying, storing and using kerosene and gas in trekking or
mountaineering.
6) In trekking or mountaineering use
kerosene, LPG or other non-wood fuel for all cooking, heating and
lighting. Including that used porters.
7) Avoid high fuel consumption menu items.
e.g. : baked food or large food selections in high altitude.
8) Repackage food into re-usable
containers to reduce waste.
9) Reduce waste by depacking and repacking
in an outing.
10) Separate and properly
dispose of litter burn burnable, bury biodegradable and carry out all
other non-biodegradable materials deposit at designated trash sites or for
recycling.
11) Use toilet tents on all treks, set up
and used in an environmentally sound manner, so as to avoid pollution of
water sources (at least 100m away).
12) Teach all the team member about
personal hygiene, sanitation and kitchen and camp routine.
13) Properly treat the drinking water and
uncooked vegetables.
14) Dispose of washing water well away from
streams, and use bio-degradable soaps.
15) Address cultural "do's" and "don'ts",
environmentally friendly behaviour, safety precautions, proper dress and
respect for local beliefs, peoples and religious sites.
16) If you are in high altitude, then plan
days for proper altitude acclimatization when ascending, know how to
identify and treat high altitude illness and how to provide emergency
rescue.
17) Do not carry fire arms in the Jungle.
18) Treat all wild animals with respect -
they always have the right of way.
19) Never throw away lighted cigarette ends
and match in the forest - these may cause fire, destroying valuable plant
and animal habitat.
20) Cooking and lighting fire is prohibited
inside any sanctuary.
