Digha is one of
the most popular sea beaches in Eastern India. The ancient name is Beerkul.
In the year 1923 one Englishman, John Frank Smith came to this place and he
liked this place so much that he started living here and he also started
writing about this place.
After India’s independence in 1947 the then chief minister of West Bengal
Mr. Bidhan Chandra Roy took the initiative to promote this place as a new
destination.
Regular bus service is available between Kolkata and Digha. It takes
approximately 3-4 hrs.
